I have many ideas. Some relate to teaching, others do not. For purposes of this page, I am posting a few of my projects that I am working on that are relating to teaching. The following relate more specifically to special education.
Enabled Now Network
I am building a site that will enable teachers, parents, students, nurses, or anyone else who is interested to share links, stories, and ideas that relate to people with disabilities. There will be a section where people can submit links to news stories affecting people with disabilities or useful resources, and vote on them just like
digg. There is a online message board for people to discuss ideas. There is a wiki, where people can post information such as lesson plans, lesson plan ideas, and other useful information. There is also an account with a service named delicious where people can share links to news stories, and useful resources for working with people with disabilities. The links are then searchable and available to view in different ways to make finding things easier. Eventually, once enough people get involved and there is enough activity, I hope to create an audio show that will be freely available online for download form the internet. The show will feature a round table style discussion of the stories or resources that people voted to the top, and a segment on assistive technology. These are just the initial plans, and I will be trying to accommodate what people want to get out of the community. The website is not yet complete. I plan to make the pages more uniform, but if you would like to see the progress the site can be found
here.
Assistive Browsing
My plan is to create a service that can be used either over the internet or via downloaded software in conjunction with the online service that will make the world wide web more accessible to people with disabilities. When this is closer to being reality, I will post a link.
Assistive Technology Adviser
My goal here is to enable parents or anyone else to narrow down their assistive technology choices.
Feedback Free Hearing Aid
I have an idea on how it may be possible to create a hearing aid that would be free of the high pitched screeching known as feedback.
